Storm light at Callanish standing stones, Harris&Lewis, Scotland
The Calanais Standing Stones can be found on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Scotland. The stones are made of Lewisian Gneiss which is one of the oldest rocks in Britain and dates back 3000 million years. The stones are placed in a cross-shaped setting and were erected some 5,000 years ago. They predate England’s famous Stonehenge monument, and were an important place for ritual activity for at least 2,000 years.

This is an oldie from the last time I was in Scotland. This is a Sunset view of the Calanish Standing Stones on the isle of Lewis & Harris. I will soon be visiting one of the Scottish islands again and hope to get some nice photographs.
The beautiful columns of the Callanish Standing stones on the island of Lewis & Harris in the Outer Hebrides. This was taken on a summer evening just before I was eaten alive by the midges and had to race out of there.
