Fairy Tale canyon

Fairy Tale Canyon (Skazka Canyon) is beautiful canyon close to the southern shores of Issyk-Kul lake. There is a beautifully eroded landscape, the land has many palette colors and the rocks have some pretty bizarre shapes.

Photo tips: There's a lot of options what to capture here, just walk around and find an interesting spot. From higher placed locations you can see the Issyk-Kul lake and the mountains behind it, on its northern shores. This scenery with the Fairy Tale canyon in the foreground makes a great composition.

Getting there: If you have a car, you can drive directly to the canyon. Particularly after rain, a 4WD might be needed. We were taken by a marshrutka from Karakol to the canyon entrance, spent a night here and hitchhiked another marshrutka the next day on the main road.
