I think this has to be one of my favourite locations that we visited on the recent trip to Skye, tucked out of the way and out of sight from pretty much everywhere lies this charachterful old ruin, surrounded by lots of equally interesting limestone pavement.
The weather had been (as often is the case on Skye) extremely changeable with squalls of snow, rain, sleet, and hailstones occuring very frequently, however the light on this day had to be seen to be beleived, gorgeous warm breaks lighting up the landscape and really transforming the scene from drab and flat to a real golden beauty in a matter of seconds.
It was just a case of setting up, waiting, getting wet, and being ready for when the light washed over this beautful part of the landscape, truly a day to remember.
Lots more images from this shoot, and others, on my website here - updating regularly
This is the last one I'll post from here and probably my favourite one.
The lighting up here this day was nothing short of incredible with a passing storm front it was changing dramatically minute by minute from really dark to really light, dappled light, and pretty much everything inbetween including driving wind, rain, and hail.
Snow covered Blaven at the rear, and the snow covered peak to the fore would completely vanish for long periods before reappearing looking dramatic as ever.
This shot was a case of setting up the shot, waiting and watching for the best conditions to (maybe) appear where you could at least see everything. This was the resulting image with all the peaks illuminated, the house, and the foreground rocks underneath a really powerful sky, in a location like this it's very tempting to just snap away but waiting can often be far more productive.

Apologies if you were one of the 55 people that saw this once today, uploaded for the second time today due to Flickr being broken. (55 views in nearly 4 hours)..?
This is the second image I've posted up from this location on the Isle of Skye and I'd say this is probably my favourite.
The weather was changing minute to minute and even swapping composition spots could see a complete change in lighting and weather by the time you walked for 2 minutes, light was breaking through at times though so I just decided to pick a spot I really liked and just wait to see what happened.. here amdist the stormy skies low light is breaking through from the left picking out details on the house and hillside to the rear, snow covered Blaven is seen amidst the ongoing passing weather squalls.
