Another of my favourite places in Wales, not only for the spectacular scenery around Llyn Idwal or because the Ogwen cafe sells the best cheese and onion pasties and rocky road but because (and at nearly 50 years of age I apologise for this and I really shouldn't be so childish) the nice lady on google maps pronounces "Betws-y-Coed" - "Betis why Gohead" Sometimes I miss the junction on purpose so I have to turn around to hear it again....... I need to get out more :-)
Cwm Idwal is a cirque (or corrie) in the Glyderau range of mountains in northern Snowdonia, the national park in the mountainous region of North...
Another from a cold and gloomy, but very rewarding, day in Snowdonia. On a fine summer's day this place is swarming with people so it was a real treat to have it all to myself. This shot of the outflow from Llyn Idwal was taken from a little wooden foot-bridge that gets so much traffic that it would be impossible to get a sharp vibration-free image in the summer. Cold and gloomy has its advantages.
