The Mascarene Islands are a group of islands located in the Indian Ocean, east of Madagascar and southeast of the Seychelles. The islands are a French overseas territory and are known for their stunning natural beauty, diverse wildlife, and unique culture. The islands offer a range of photography locations, from pristine beaches and turquoise waters to lush forests and volcanic landscapes. Some of the most popular photography spots include the Piton de la Fournaise volcano on Reunion Island, the coral reefs and marine life around Mauritius, and the stunning waterfalls and canyons on Rodrigues Island.

The light was very harsh (it was almost noon), so I had to use Digital Blending with 7 exposures to get a decent lighting. I used a ND400 filter for the water, which gave me a shutter speed of 76 seconds at f/22.

A slightly re-worked version of a shot I posted previously. A distracting tree was removed on the left, and I blurred the sky to smooth it.
Along the rugged coastline of Réunion Island you can find some lovely tidal pool with beautiful corals.

Another shot I can remove from my to-do list in Reunion Island. Heavy rain last night on this part of the island, so the reward was those ephemeral waterfalls on this lovely black sand beach. Panorama shot with the Nikkor 19mm Tilt Shift, lens shifted left to right. Filter used: NiSi S5 | ND64
I see a dragon's head where the lady is standing, don't you think so? The beautiful rugged volcanic coastline of Reunion Island.

Pointe au Sel, Reunion Island. Nikon D850 | Nikkor 16mm f/2.8 Fisheye Once again my fisheye lens was very handy to capture the full rift. Trying to do a panorama with a conventional lens would have been very challenging! I took over 200 exposures of the same composition at multiple shutter speeds and apertures to finally selected 5 to blend them.

Shot from the location called 'Le Maido' (elevation 2000 meters) in Reunion Island. The light below the sea of clouds is coming from the coastal city of Saint Paul. Thanks to that sea of clouds, it prevents light pollution to shoot the Milky Way. Panorama (168 Megapixels) shot with the Nikon D850 and Nikkor 19mm Tilt Shift, ISO 10,000, f/4 15s
