This long exposure shot (1.3 seconds) is processed with the new pipeline suggested with the arrival of Darktable 3.0. So, in the first stage were applied plugins like White Balance, Denoise modules, Lens correction, Tone Equalizer, Contrast Equalizer, Color Balance and RGBFilmic with "Linear Rec2020 RGB" profile. In a second stage were applied tone curve and Velvia specific color adjustments with "Abobe RGB Profile".
In conclusion, interesting new pipeline in Darktable 3.0
A Haida Neutral filter of 6 steps was used.
black sand and big iceberg viaggio fotografico islanda
Another shot of the beach of Jokulsarlon just after sunset. This beach is famous by the ice blocks that come from the glacier and rely on the sand for days.
Es la segunda vez que visito esta playa, la primera habia muchos hielos y costaba componer y esta vez habia tan poco que casi nos pegamos por ellos los cuatro españoles que estabamos alli.

It was past midnight when I took the last shot of the day (or the first one of the new one). A good one to end with those spiritual moments.
Jökulsárlón is a large glacial lake in southeast Iceland, on the edge of Vatnajökull National Park. Situated at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, it developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. The lake has grown since then at varying rates because of melting of the glaciers. It is now a mile away from the ocean's edge and covers an area of about 7 sq miles. It recently became the deepest lake in Iceland, at over 814 ft, as glacial retreat extended its boundaries. The size of the lake has increased 4x since the 1970s. James Bond films A View to a Kill and Die Another Day were filmed here.
Jokulsarlon, Iceland
The beach of Jokulsarlon in Iceland is really unique. I´ve been to many glaciers worldwide, in Patagonia, Alaska, New Zealand but I´ve never seen something like what we can see here in the beach of Jokulsarlon were the ice blocks broken from the glacier navigate to the open sea and are finally deposited by the waves on the sand of the beach were rest for hours or days until finally dissolve.
The colors of the ice, sometimes blue such as this one, and the magic forms that appear with the interaction with the waves makes it easy to spend hours here taking photos or even just seen the blocks and listening to the waves.
Roadtrip in Iceland summer 2015 - Roadtrip en Islande été 2015
This is an amazing viewpoint over the large Asbyrgi Canyon, it's tall walls and small ponds below.
Photo Tips: It's kind of tricky to capture the whole scene, even the widest ultrawide won't get it all, generally speaking you have to merge a panorama unless you'll be satisfied with just a part of the whole scenery.
I'd have preferred more Autumn look, but didn't manage to come here late enough. If you can, the second half of the September or beginning of October seems to be the best time for great golden foliage.
Getting There: It's about 4km walk from the Asbyrgi Information Center and parking.
... in Jokulsarlon Ice Lagoon, an iconic tourist site in Iceland
Views from Sveinstindur are out of this World. I'm so glad I made it here, quite a bit into Icelandic Highlands.
Getting there: After driving F208 and then F235 roads, it's just about negotiating the last ~400 vertical meters from parking to the Sveinstindur summit, which will take you close to an hour. Or, closer to 30 minutes in case you don't get up early enough, which was just my case. ;-)

We waited for several hours, hoping to have eye-catching sunset. But clouds blocked most of our hope and gave us some mercy at the end. This is mother nature!

Roadtrip in Iceland summer 2015 - Roadtrip en Islande été 2015
I took this photo in Iceland during a recent trip along this amazing country. This cascade is Svartifoss, one of the most famous cascades in Iceland, located in the Skaftafell National Park. It is a singular waterfall due to the basaltic formations that surround the cascade.
In this case I placed my tripod in the center of the water stream to capture the water flow and used a long exposure to obtain that nice effect on the water.
A must see place if you travel to Iceland
Seeing as Winter is rapidly approaching I thought I'd post this one up from earlier in the year, it's looking increasingly unlikely I'll be going to Iceland in the Winter again this coming year with everything that's currently going on, I can't even get out to travel and shoot much in this Country let alone abroad until things change... but I guess most of us are in the same boat for now...
This was shot at sunrise at Jokusarlon on the South East Coast of Iceland, there was a tinny little window of opportunity where the sun was going to be visible due to the very heavy clouds, so when it popped it's head over the horizon you had to be ready...
The ice to the rear is acting as a great light splitter, projecting the warm light towards the main Ice Berg as if it was a red carpet (well OK, Orange....) for it's arrival onto the black sands.
Even though it was this year, this seems like an absolute age away now!

The other side : the diamonds beach
Many birds rested on these giant icebergs. When taking the photo, a seal was passing through. The entire scene felt peaceful and harmonious.
Another shot from our trip to Iceland last month. This is the lake of Fjallsarlon, a place not so famous as Jokulsarlon but extremely beautiful and almost empty of tourists what allowed us to take as many photos as we wanted. The light was slowly going down as it happens in this area of the earth and the sky took that wonderful pink color before the darkness arrived. A moment full of calm. Hope you like it.
Peaceful summer midnight in SkaftafellJokul glacier.
Situated near the famous Jökulsárlón
It was late, two hours from midnight while walking to the front of the glacier. But before, a breathtaking view -lake, glacier, mountain, and clouds- appeared.
It was the beginning of really spiritual moments, enjoyed with my best friends, the ones that, as usual, were patient with my passion for landscape pictures. Just the first of that amazing night.
Please, enjoy this shot and of those feelings borning from it!!!
