The coastal village of Piran, is perhaps one of the prettiest in Slovenia. The soft pastel colours, the harbour and the Venetian Tower make it very attractive to photograph. On this particular evening a wonderful pink glow came over the town at sunset.
Traveling through Slovenia I seem to have photographed mostly churches, but then there are so many pretty ones and often in such picturesque locations. This is the much photographed church on the shores of Lake Bohinj. I liked the colour added by the boats.
This is one of many picturesque, hilltop churches, that lie dotted over the Slovenian countryside.
A popular and beautiful spot to photograph the sunrise in Northern Slovenia looking towards the Italian Alps. As the fog lifted a pink glow could be seen on the mountain tops. Earlier I posted a photo taken slightly later after the fog had lifted. Which one is better? Earlier posting: www.flickr.com/photos/adelheids-pictures/49005219751

An album of Slovenian photos is really not complete without a photo of the iconic Pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of Maria, on its own little island in Bled Lake. I was there late afternoon with the sun casting its bright golden light on the church as well as Bled Castle in the distance.
Evening blue hour on pretty Tartini Sq in Piran, Slovenia
One of the best things about Slovenia is the many pretty churches, located on such picturesque locations. This was one of my favourite views, even though the mountains in the background are quite hazy.
Another Slovenian church. I love the location of this one; under the powerline in the middle of agricultural land. I took the photo from a hilltop near Kranj. Like my previous upload, it was a challenge to keep lens and camera stable on the tripod. This was taken with a 400mm lens and then cropped to about 20% of the total image. Any future telephoto lens postings will be made with support from my new tripod :-).
Making the most of the beautiful warm evening light on the old part of Piran, just before Sunset.
In Bukov Vrh, in central Slovenia, another pretty church on a lonely hilltop in the sunset.
One of the beautiful hillside churches in Slovenia, this time surrounded by fall colours. My previous image of this church was taken from the other side of the hill at Sunset. See the other image here: www.flickr.com/photos/adelheids-pictures/38420264404
Classic view of Bled lake, the island church, and the castle, I wish there was more snow on the peaks, but at least the lake surface was calm, taken...
St. John the Baptist Church on the shores of Lake Bohinj. Like an earlier photo of Bled that I posted, I want to complete my Slovenia album with some famous viewpoints. This one was taken during my first visit to Slovenia in 2017. I was there again in 2019 and hope to return in the Autumn of this year, when the world is hopefully back to normal. Stay well everybody!

Another Sunrise attempt to photograph a church in Slovenia. This spot, with a view over Sv Tomaz is actually very popular. No angry farmers here, just a road side spot and about 8 other photographers. Two years ago I stood in the same spot trying to get a good Sunset view. I need to go back one more time for a final attempt to get this right. Previous picture is here: www.flickr.com/photos/adelheids-pictures/38989185985
Sunrise at the pretty little Zelenci Lake with its aquamarine waters, looking towards the Julian Alps.
This is the main wintersports center in Slovenia; close to the Italian border. However it is also a picturesque small town.
During my week in Slovenia this shot was high on my wishlist. I knew the moon would be full on the last evening of the trip, and that it would rise right behind the Jamnik church. My image was inspired by a photo taken by Henk Meijer Photography. See his beautiful version here: www.flickr.com/photos/henk-meijer/41500675595
