Yeongdo-gu Busan, South Korea
This panorama is taken from the observation deck of the new Lotte department store. It offers spectacular views of both the island of Yeongdo and, on the opposite side, downtown Jung-gu. With a new Lotte tower being built on the waterfront, panoramic views like this would soon be impossible as the right side of the image would be obscured by the new development. View it on large (press L).
The image contains the Busan bridge as seen in the foreground and the Bonganaesan Mountain in the background. The middleground consists of residental areas and also on the left of the image ship building facilities. Yeongdo-gu acts as the mother of the ship building industry in Korea.
I faced some difficulties to obtain the shot, the observation deck was surrounded by glass which are not frequently cleaned and filled with dust. I had to raise my camera above the glass and capture this image handheld. Problem arises as that I required a fast shutter speed to minimize camera shake but at the same time a small aperture to have a larger depth of view to the image. After reaching a compromise, I managed to capture the image with a fairly small aperture of f16 and a shutter speed of 1/15 secs ( with the help of image stabilizer and a fairly wide angle lens).
5 exp, further editing in Photoshop including changing the image to black and white and stitching of the 5 exposure into the panorama. Feedback will be greatly appreciated!
