Palm Jumeirah

A third photo of the Dubai Marina shot at 6:43 pm, from Palm Jumeirah.

Thanks to a photographer buddy's tip, I was able to access an area (restricted?) of the Palm Island (the top of the palm's trunk) where you get the best view of the Atlantis Hotel, and the monorail's track as a bonus.

For the technical stuff behind this shot: Two exposures for the building and sky at f/8, one long exposure at f/22 for the water, and one fast exposure at f/2.8 ISO 800 to get the moving monorail.

The main iconic buildings of Dubai (from left to right: Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach Hotel, Burj Khalifa) as seen from the non less iconic Palm Jumeirah Island.

I posted a similar shot a long time ago, but the configuration of the buildings was totally different because it was shot from the different vantage point.

Shot with my beloved Nikkor 70-200mm F/2.8 VRII. The details at full resolution zoomed at 100% are simply amazing. And of course thanks to a particular clear and haze free night, with a glorious full moon (that was just eclipsed 2 hours before).

Today, I had a sunset photo outing with visiting flickr buddy from Houston, Jeff Eickhoff (Laughter&Noise).

We had a great time shooting on the Palm Island, even though we originally thought it would be ruined by the bad weather! But I think things turned out quite well, and for me it was nice to have lots of clouds for a change!

Dubai Marina

So here is the blue hour version of the night shot I posted a few days ago. Not the nice blue that I wanted, but it's a bit hazy now. Only one exposure. I could have selectively changed the white balance of the sky to make it more blue, but I was a bit lazy! ;-)
