Devils Postpile National Monument

Devils Postpile National Monument is a unique geological formation located in the eastern Sierra Nevada region of California. The monument is known for its towering basalt columns that were formed by volcanic activity over 100,000 years ago. The area is also home to a variety of wildlife, including black bears, mule deer, and golden eagles. For photography enthusiasts, Devils Postpile offers a plethora of stunning locations to capture the natural beauty of the area. From the top of the monument, visitors can capture panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The nearby Rainbow Falls is another popular spot for photographers, with its cascading waterfalls and vibrant rainbows.

To the artist there is never anything ugly in nature...

Another shot from our days at Big Pine California, this is the impressive Rainbow falls a 4mile hike along the Devils Post Pile National monument will get you here. True to its name we got to see a rainbow along the base of the waterfall. My wife was actually pretty sick while we took this hike and I don’t know how she pulled off walking under the hot summer sun. Thankfully she got better in the days that followed, thanks to the clean air of the Sierra.

Thanks for visiting and have a nice weekend..
