Armenia prides itself on being the first country in the world to officially accept Christianity as a national religion (301 AD). There are many churches and monasteries in the country, built in Romanesque style and dating back to the 10th C. (Wikipedia) This monastery is also from that period, it lies in Northern Armenia, not far from the Georgian border. It belongs to the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is built on a very scenic hillside, it is part of Unesco World Heritage and therefore one of the most visited monasteries in the country.
