Another one fromt he beautiful Galeria beach. Those sandstone rocks were just great for photography.
I used a lee 0.6 soft + hard gnd here to balance the exposure. It was already quite dark, much darker than in the image here. This is over 100 seconds of exposure, I already needed my head-torch. But the colors were still so beautiful and vibrant and the long exposure emphasized those even more. All got a nice glow.

On my recent travels and photo trips I've started to experiment with shooting stars. It's less star trails I'm after, but the sky as I see it full of static unmoving stars. But well, first of all they are moving. So a short exposure of less than 30 seconds is needed and then to capture enough light ISO values of around 3200 or 6400. This leads to a lot of noise. This shot on the contrary has nearly no noise in the sky but still shows quite some stars. I used 6 high ISO shots, which I then averadged to remove the noise and leave the stars. Then some blending of the fg which I shot an hour after the stars just before sunrise.
I think I'll eventually do a post processing tutorial about this blending, similar to my start2finish tutorial.
Btw. this is Galeria on Corsica. A wonderful place where I also shot a very colorful sunset, which I'll show you later.
cheers, Michael

End of a rainy day on Corsica. It was really pouring and most of the time we sat in the nice coffee bars in calvi waiting for the rain to stop. The whole time we waited, I had this photo in mind. Just a little less rain an I would grab my umbrella to get this scene after sunset. I was even more lucky, around sunset it completely stopped raining so I didn't even need the umbrella. The water was very calm after sunset and the grey clouds turned on a light blueish hue, which I emphasized a bit in Photoshop. You just have to love the blue hour when shooting cities. Be it a clear sky, a cloudy sky or even raining. Doesn't matter, you can always get a nice shot.
Used a lee 0.6 hard GND here to balance the exposure + a Polarizer to see a bit of the bottom. The foreground rocks were needed as sharp contrast to the blurry rocks below the surface of the water and also for the viewer to get into the scene. I also had a tele shot in mind but then it started to rain again and I didn't want to change lenses.

PS: le 28 octobre, il y avait encore des gens qui se baignaient!
Winter holds his grip on germany. So it's time to remember warmer days as here in corsica. This is Galeria beach, which I showed you from the other side already. It's a pebble beach and the walk across it is really stearnous since you sinc in between the small pebbles. That's also why for sunset we stayed on the other side which has some equally beautiful views.
This photo I took during midday. It is told that this is the worst time to take landscape photos and mostly this is true. But put some clouds in the sky and some colorfull rocks into the foreground, the blue sea to the right and mountains in the background it's not too bad though ;-)
I used some exposure blending here to deal with dyn range and also the magic hand technique to remove flares. Shooting in the direction of the sun during midday isn't all to easy.
cheers
