During my trip to London I went for a walk to Millennium bridge at one morning. I got up very early to shoot some blue hour. This photo here was the last one I took that morning. Using a self-timer I walked into the frame to make it a bit more interesting.

The Millennium Bridge, officially known as the London Millennium Footbridge, is a steel suspension bridge for pedestrians crossing the River Thames in London, England, linking Bankside with the City of London. It is located between Southwark Bridge and Blackfriars Railway Bridge. It is owned and maintained by Bridge House Estates, a charitable trust overseen by the City of London Corporation. Construction began in 1998, and it initially opened in June 2000.

Or sat on your bum drinking a latte and eating a sausage, bacon and egg roll whilst getting some funny looks...admittedly I probably did look like a tramp!

In 1774 the new bridge was mentioned in a popular song in Charles Dibdin's opera The Waterman, referring to the boatmen who used to carry fashionable folks to Vauxhall Gardens and Ranelagh Gardens.

"And did you not hear of the jolly young waterman, Who at Blackfriars Bridge used for to ply? And he feathered his oars with such skill and dexterity, Winning each heart and delighting each eye."

St Paul's Cathedral, London, is an Anglican cathedral, the seat of the Bishop of London and the mother church of the Diocese of London. It sits on Ludgate Hill at the highest point of the City of London. Its dedication to Paul the Apostle dates back to the original church on this site, founded in AD 604. The present church, dating from the late 17th century, was designed in the English Baroque style by Sir Christopher Wren. Its construction, completed in Wren's lifetime, was part of a major rebuilding programme in the City after the Great Fire of London. The cathedral is one of the most famous and most recognisable sights of London. Its dome, framed by the spires of Wren's City churches, dominated the skyline for 300 years. At 365 feet (111 m) high, it was the tallest building in London from 1710 to 1967. The dome is among the highest in the world. St Paul's is the second largest church building in area in the United Kingdom after Liverpool Cathedral.

Following all those bright colours, I chose a black and white long exposure from my archive. St Pauls Cathedral in the distance and the Millennium Bridge in front.

On underground Jubilee Line

Millenium Bridge, leading to St Pauls Cathedral.The weather had turned now and this was the last of the long exposures, 80 seconds with this one, would have dropped significantly after this as the sun appeared from nowhere ruining the chances for the day, was happy with what I got from the morning through to here so I can't complain, some excellent light, just a bit more than what I wanted on this occasion, it lit the bridge up nicely for this last one though...

London (Explored)

Great place to be for sunset is the top level of Tate Modern Gallery. You get an inspiring 360ᵒ view of the London skyline, from high above the River Thames. More spectacular buildings on the other side but colors on this. The best, it's for free.
