Harpa Concert Hall

Harpa, Reykjavik, Iceland.

In 2013, the building won the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture for its excellent architecture with the glass facade inspired by Icelandic nature. The facade is made up of many three-dimensional glass and steel elements in basalt form. Similar mirror elements can be found in the ceiling. When it is dark, light is projected on the facade of the building. It creates a magical light show reminiscent of the Northern Lights or the beautiful light and colors reflected in the sky at different times of the year when the weather changes.

Harpa was designed by architect Henning Karsen from Copenhagen and with Batterlid arkitektar Hafnarfjördur

Artist Olafur Eliasson designed the glass façade together with the architects.

North Berwick

North Berwick in East Lothian, somewhere I always go back to, over and over. I thought I had posted this before but I can't find it in my photostream so I must have forgot, have such a backlog of pics I can post due to neglecting Flickr recently and mostly posting on Facebook at www.facebook.com/ScotlandExplored something I need to change!

I've been going through the Hard Drives culling all the rubbish thats been lying around and not going to get used when I came across this long exposure of the Tidal pool at North Berwick and thought I quite like it, so here we have it for your viewing pleasure... or not!

Reflections of Hong Kong
Hong Kong
by Daniel Cheong

Shot from the ICC Sky100 observation deck, through the glass.

Very challenging because of the mutliple reflections from the internal lighting.

I had to use the 14-24mm against the glass, very perpendicular to it, and use a black cloth around it. Two hands were barely enough to handle both cloth & remote control!

I should have been more prepared as there is a special accessory called LENSKIRT which could have been really handy! Well, for next time then...

Always been fascinated by this pool at North Berwick and the long exposure effect on the family peering into it seemed like a good idea at the time.
