One more shot of the Cape Blanco Lighthouse. This is one location during our trip to Oregon that I was not quite happy about. The light was so harsh here even in late afternoon I don’t believe I managed to get a decent enough shot of this beautiful lighthouse. This is the one I liked the most of the shots I have taken at this location. I took this picture lying down on the ground and using the tall grass that surrounds the meadow as a foreground interest.

I hope to return soon and hopefully get a gorgeous sunset against this beautiful lighthouse.

The second stop on our trip was at Cape Blanco Lighthouse, the most southern of all Oregon's lighthouses, and is the westernmost point in Oregon. Proposed in 1864, it was the first lighthouse in the state outfitted with a first-order Fresnel lens in 1870.

Unfortunately I did not plan a lot of time along the Oregon coast and we reached the lighthouse while the sun was directly above us. This is one of the best shots I managed to get with the lighthouse, hopefully I will be able to get back here during golden hour and give this stunning lighthouse the respect it deserves.

Thanks for visiting and have a nice day..

The Chetco River is a 56-mile-long (90 km) stream located in the southwestern portion of Oregon. It drains approximately 352 square miles (912 km2) of Curry County. Flowing through a rugged and isolated coastal region, it descends rapidly from about 3,200 feet (975 m) to sea level at the Pacific Ocean. Except for the lowermost 5 miles (8 km), the river is located entirely within the Rogue River – Siskiyou (SISK - you) National Forest.

Crissey Field State Park, Oregon
Crissey Field State Park, Oregon
by Bonnie Moreland

This is a combination of two images to get this effect. I just couldn't get the dramatic effect I wanted with what I had shot so I borrowed the sunset from another image and combined the two images.

Crissey is the surname of one William L., who owned the property in the middle part of the 20th century. The term Field has a dual meaning both for the flowers grown in his extensive flower fields and the airfield utilized on the land prior to being acquired by the state park system. Mr. Crissey moved to Brookings with his wife in 1928, at the time home to about 250 residents. Soon after, the Easter lily was added to his floral inventory. Crissey pioneered the commercial sale of this flower for which the small coastal community of Brookings was later renowned.
