The Thomas Jefferson Memorial, He is my favourite US president and I have had a fascination about him since I read about the famous quote by John F Kennedy when he claimed “I think this is the most extraordinary collection of talent, of human knowledge, that has ever been gathered at the White House - with the possible exception of when Thomas Jefferson dined alone” during a Nobel laureates dinner.

I reached the memorial by evening that day and was really tired from the heat wave and biking around the city. This angle was interesting because of the lines contrasting against the dome of the building and the perspective the ultra wide angle lens was giving me. I used a polarizer to darken the skies a bit and other than that this was a pretty straight forward shot and I am liking the result so far…

Past week I was able to travel a little bit and revisit the DC on that trip. this time I actually took some time to explore the city. I did a bit of planing prior to the trip and even it was getting pretty cold I went for it. The trip was a great success! I might say. And I came back home with a ton of architectural, landmark and urban photos. This particular shot is from the inside of the Library of Congress. Really great photographer friendly place. The Lincoln Memorial is an American memorial built to honor the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln. It is located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. The architect was Henry Bacon, the sculptor of the main statue (Abraham Lincoln, 1920) was Daniel Chester French, and the painter of the interior murals was Jules Guerin. It is one of several monuments built to honor an American president.

It was taken in early morning(5:30am) and there is no any visitor.

The Vietnam Veterans Memorial is a national memorial in Washington, D.C. It honors U.S. service members of the U.S. armed forces who fought in the Vietnam War, service members who died in service in Vietnam/South East Asia, and those service members who were unaccounted for (Missing In Action) during the War.

The Memorial Wall, designed by Maya Lin, is made up of two gabbro walls 246 feet 9 inches (75 m) long. The walls are sunk into the ground, with the earth behind them.

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is a presidential memorial in Washington, D.C. that is dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, an American Founding Father and the third President of the United States. The neoclassical building was designed by John Russell Pope. It was built by Philadelphia contractor John McShain. Construction began in 1939, the building was completed in 1943, and the bronze statue of Jefferson was added in 1947.

The Supreme Court Building, situated in Washington DC at 1 First Street NE on the block immediately east of the United States Capitol, is the seat of the Supreme Court of the United States. It is. The building is under the jurisdiction of the Architect of the Capitol. On May 4, 1987, the Supreme Court Building was designated a National Historic Landmark. It is one of a handful of National Historic Landmarks which are not listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I was here around noon and was a bit disappointed because of all the construction scaffolding around the building. But the bonus was that there were not many tourists around and that’s a pretty rare thing near the DC landmarks in summer. Plus I like the whole Justice under construction vibe.

This is hands down my fave shot from this DC trip. It was taken at the Lincoln memorial with the Washington memorial smack in the middle framed by the giant marble columns as the morning sun lit up the national mall. The composition came by accident as I went inside to get a shot of Lincoln being illuminated by the morning rays and while waiting thought this will be a cool shot in the meantime. It was a little challenging to expose as the interior was still dark and the outside was really bright.

The exposure was for about 1/200th of a second with an f8 aperture at 12mm. and just as I finished here and was putting my camera away a guy ran up the steps and did a rocky routine, unfortunately a soon as he saw me ran away from there. I wish I hand put away my camera as I think that would have been a killer shot..

In early October 2021, white flags blanketed Washington Monument lawn. Each of them represented one of those who died during the COVID-19 pandemic. As of today, more than one million Americans were died from COVID-19. We are the lucky ones survived.

The United States Capitol is the meeting place of the United States Congress, the legislature of the federal government of the United States. Located in Washington, D.C., it sits atop Capitol Hill at the eastern end of the National Mall. Though not in the geographic center of the District of Columbia, the Capitol is the origin by which the quadrants of the District are divided. Officially, both the east and west sides of the Capitol are referred to as "fronts." Historically, however, only the east front of the building was intended for the arrival of visitors and dignitaries.

美国国会的办公大楼，建在一处海拔为83英尺的高地上，故名国会山。

美国人把国会大厦看做是民有、民治、民享政权的最高象征。美国参、众两院构成的国会就在这里举行会议，通常被视为华盛顿的象征。1793年华盛顿亲自为大厦奠基，南北战争爆发后，有人提议停建该大厦，林肯总统却坚持要将高280英尺的大圆顶造好。

整幢国会大厦是一座三层的平顶建筑，其中央是一座高高耸立的圆顶，也分三层。圆顶上还有一个小圆塔，塔顶直立着自由女神铜像。她头顶羽冠，右手持剑，左手扶盾，永远眺望东方太阳升起的地方。

"The Arts of Peace" statue by James Earle Fraser flanks the end of the parkway of the Arlington Memorial Bridge. "Music and Harvest" consists of a winged horse, Pegasus, between a male figure with a bundle of wheat and a sickle and a woman with a harp. The statues, approximately 17 feet tall are of gilded bronze. They were commissioned in 1925, but were not erected until 1951.

I went to the Lincoln memorial early in the morning to avoid the crowds and get the morning light. After I finished with the Lincoln memorial I walked behind to get these statues. The easiest was the Arts of Peace statue and the best factor was that I was alone and had time to frame shot perfectly in glorious morning light. The only missing aspect was that I would have preferred some clouds to make the sky a little more interesting.
