Hanoi

Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, is a vibrant and bustling metropolis that is steeped in history and culture. With its ancient temples, colonial architecture, and bustling markets, Hanoi is a photographer's paradise. The city is home to a plethora of photography locations, from the iconic Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter to the stunning Temple of Literature and the bustling Dong Xuan Market.

One of the most popular excursion nearly to Hanoi is the Perfume Pagoda (Chua Huong). This Pagoda is a group of pagodas and buddhist temples located on the top of Perfume Mountain (Ha Tay Province). It's 70 kilometres at southwest from Hanoi. Moreover, it's one of the most famous spiritual places of Vietnam, the Perfume Pagoda is an outstanding natural scenery.

Train Street
Train Street

The famous Train Street in Hanoi. I took this photo on my frist visit to Hanoi back in 2017 and I had totally forgotten that I had taken it. It was the perfect moment with the train coming around the corner and I had to quickly leave the tracks after taking the photo.

When I visited Hanoi last year I again tried to get a photo of the train. That time it didn't work out, but honestly, had I known that I already had this photo I wouldn't have bothered ;-)

Today I want to share one of my favorite photos of my recent trip to Vietnam with you. And it's not a landscape photo ;-)

I took this photo in Old Quarter in Hanoi, while wandering around in the evening, looking for interesting subjects to photograph.

As I stumbled upon this scene I instantly knew that I had found something special for a few reasons.

First I could setup my tripod in the middle of one of the many street bars. Such a place which is right in the middle of it, yet provides enough space to setup a tripod is quite rare.

Then this scene contained everything that I find so characteristic about Hanoi. Old buildings, street bars with tiny chairs, a busy street, lots of details wherever you look and lots of colors.

Also, I have just released a new Vlog about photographing Hanoi.

Thanks to all Phoide contributors to Hanoi!
Most notably Andrey Sulitskiy, Nguyễn Hoàng Long and Michael.
