Harpa

Harpa is a stunning concert hall and conference center located in the heart of Reykjavik, Iceland. With its unique glass facade and modern architecture, Harpa is a popular destination for tourists and locals alike. The building's exterior provides a perfect backdrop for photography, especially during the golden hour when the sun sets behind the mountains. Inside, the concert hall's intricate design and lighting make for great photo opportunities. Additionally, the surrounding area of Reykjavik offers many other photography locations, such as the colorful houses of the old town, the iconic Hallgrimskirkja church, and the picturesque harbor.

In 2013, the building won the European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture for its excellent architecture with the glass facade inspired by Icelandic nature. The facade is made up of many three-dimensional glass and steel elements in basalt form. Similar mirror elements can be found in the ceiling. When it is dark, light is projected on the facade of the building. It creates a magical light show reminiscent of the Northern Lights or the beautiful light and colors reflected in the sky at different times of the year when the weather changes.

Harpa was designed by architect Henning Karsen from Copenhagen and with Batterlid arkitektar Hafnarfjördur

Artist Olafur Eliasson designed the glass façade together with the architects.
