Hraunfossar is a stunning natural wonder located in the Western Region of Iceland. This unique waterfall is unlike any other, as it is made up of a series of small cascades that flow out of the lava fields and into the Hvítá River. The contrast between the bright blue water and the dark lava rocks creates a breathtaking sight that is perfect for photography. In addition to Hraunfossar, the surrounding area offers many other picturesque locations for photography, including the nearby Barnafoss waterfall and the scenic hiking trails that wind through the lava fields.
This is not an impressive waterfall of Iceland due to its height or the volume of water flowing through it, it is a small waterfall but it is special because the water appears directly from the vegetation giving to the cascade a really special aspect. The colours of the rocks are also special. I would recommend you to visit Hraunfossar, in the west of the island. You will enjoy its view.
The shot was taken near mid-day and I used a 6-stop ND filter in order to obtain a long-exposure (4 seconds).
