This was another shot I made at the Grieg-French-Bell redwood grove located in Northern California. This particular treasure of a forest is a small grove located along the avenue of the giants and is especially hard to locate. We were camping near Fort Bragg and had to take a 4 hr round trip to get here so had just over an hour to explore this grove and its clover carpeted forest floor.
I thought that was enough time considering how small the grove actually is. But it turns out to be a wrong assumption, first it took forever for us to find the grove. Then we found that instead of a clearly marked hiking path we expected there were a confusing amount of crisscrossing hiking paths which lead us nowhere. Some of the paths just stopped abruptly and some just going around in circles.
This was the only clearing we actually encountered which had a nice bench and a small grove of massive redwoods. I hope you all like it.
I made a lot of self portraits while my wife and I were hiking and exploring the Redwoods. I felt that adding the human element gave a better sense...
Thanks to all Phoide contributors to Humboldt Redwoods State Park!
