Almost... The Fairy Pools that is, wasn't a lot of water flowing down the various falls but it was/is always worth the walk to the very top just for a look see.

Ok so I couldn't resist the title :-)

Sligachan falls at sunset, and yes it was as cold as it looks! A gorgeous spot that always looks better with a dusting of snow lying about the place, there was a lot less than last year trip but still enough to pick the Cuillin range out in the scene.

It was quite windy here so I was conscious of a lot of the heather at the edges of the frame moving throughout the exposure time which can end up looking really messy if there's enough of it... so a low perspective was preferred with the cottage missing and the Cuillins just emerging overlooking everything and the lone tree being brought to life with the last of the days light behind it.

I was doing a spot of archive mining, and thought this might add a bit of variety to my recent set of images. The Fairy Pools of Skye are a familiar and iconic location, and for good reason. A set of cascades leading down from the finest mountain range in these Isles - the Black Cuillin. This shot was taken towards to the top of the cascades, at a moment when the sun came out and lit up the foreground, whilst the mountain tops were still draped in heavy cloud. I would recommend visiting out of season, at the height of summer, this place is swarming with people! Fortuantely on the day I visited, there were only a handful of folk sharing the magnificent view.

This is the second one of these that I have posted from this location, shot back in Feb, this one requiring slightly less contortionistic skills!

I was struggling to think of a suitable title for this one, but it just says 'Scottish Highlands' to me, one of the scenes that definitely epitomises this area of the UK.

A nice wee dusting of icing sugar on the top of the Cuillin too, not too much, not too little, but more than enough to add contrast.

Looking at my ISO for this one I can only think I used 400 to bump up the shutter speed (with a 3 stop filter on) for one slow enough the get the water movement I wanted, but to minimise or cull the dreaded messy heather movement in the scene as it was pretty windy out this evening.
