Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy
It's hailing heavily here in NSW, Australia at the moment... so I spent some time looking at warmer climates.... can't beat Manarola, Italy.... Cinque Terre's gem!
Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy
Yet another panoramic view of Manarola in Cinque Terre, captured from a little further around the coast on the track to Corniglia...

Here's another take on the Cinque Terre coastline in Italy, with Corniglia in the foreground and Manarola in the distance... it's a shame many of the trails between the five towns are closed.
Here's another hand held pano of an iconic Italian town.... Portovenere, with Castello Doria overlooking the harbour.
This may be my favorite shot of Corniglia because the D800 sensor captures so much more detail than the crop sensor D7100.... check out the fields beside the village.
Another atypical view of the iconic Cinque Terre villages in Italy. This pano was captured from the terraced fields above the village of Manarola....
Wonderful friends, a glass of wine & the smell of the summer..this is the enchanting town of Vernazza, in Italy
..... and of course we didn't leave this place until the light reached its peak.
Cinque Terre. Italia 2016
The Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera. It is in the Liguria region of Italy, to the west of the city of La Spezia. "The Five Lands" is composed of five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. The coastline, the five villages, and the surrounding hillsides are all part of the Cinque Terre National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The Cinque Terre area is a popular tourist destination. Over the centuries, people have built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the Ligurian Sea. Paths, trains, and boats connect the villages as cars can only reach them with great difficulty from the outside via narrow and precarious mountain roads.
We loved our stay in Cinque Terre. During this season the towns are pretty empty and quiet. Some restaurants are open and food is excellent. I loved I had some nice clouds at that day but i was already happy to get that view.

The formerly remote fishing village became a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1997 and thus unfortunately also a destination of mass tourism. The charming village is picturesquely situated between vineyards and the sea on the Ligurian coast and is definitely worth a trip, especially if you stay in one of the "Cinque Terre" and can enjoy quiet evenings like this.
... one of the jewels of Cinque Terre, Italy

Another view of Manarola as seen from the coastal track leading to Corniglia.... the setting sun almost acts as a spotlight on the village, as a storm approaches...
Uno dei lungomare più famoso delle 5 terre.
Another hand held pano of Corniglia, as seen from the track to Vernazza, much higher on the surrounding mountains... I'm loving the red tree in the foreground.

The wonderful church of St. Peter in Portovenere (Italy) captured in a windy and stormy day
Cinque Terre, Liguria, Italy
... perhaps not as picturesque as nearby Cinque Terre, the pastel coloured buildings on the waterfront with Castello Doria overlooking the harbour is a must visit!
the hilltop Italian town... with Manarola in the background.
