Lor Halus Wetlands Foot Bridge Punggol Promenade Singapore

Lor Halus Bridge spans the Punggol Serangoon reservoir, linking the Punggol Promenade to Lor Halus Wetlands. In my opinion, this is probably one of the more photogenic bridges in Singapore. I know it sounds a little pathetic! I initially planned for a sunset shoot at the opposite bank but heavy cloud cover foiled that plan. Feeling a little dejected, I decided to hang around for the blue hour. As usual, twilight did not disappoint. As darkness fell, stratus clouds started to reflect the city lights. They turned luminous orange and with the help of the long exposure, the camera managed to expose the shot with ease.

Even though these lit clouds results in more interesting skies, they are in fact the byproduct of light pollution. Light pollution is not only a waste of energy, it also causes disruptions in the ecosystem, such as disorientating migrating birds. Whats more disturbing is, light pollution also affect the animal and human health and psychology. Studies have shown that over-illumination causes increased headache incidence, worker fatigue, medically defined stress, decrease in sexual function and increase in anxiety in humans. Mr Edison would never have realized his invention could have the potential to cause so much damage!!
