2018.06 Irland-076-BA Der Rock of Cashel mit der gewaltigen Ruine der mittelalterlichen Kathedrale ist eine Attraktion im Süden Irlands. Der 65 Meter hohe Berg galt früher als Wohnort von Feen und mythologischen Geiserwesen und wurde wie ein Heiligtum verehrt. Die Geschichte des Rock of Cashel reicht weit zurück in die Vergangenheit und beginnt im 4. Jahrhundert. Weithin sichtbar erheben sich auf dem Felsen die gut erhaltenen Überreste einer mächtigen gotischen Kathedrale aus dem Mittelalter. Mit ihren eindrucksvollen Türmen, filigranen Spitzgiebeln und mächtigen Zinnen steht die Kirche seit Jahrhunderten wie ein Monument in der flachen Ebene des Counties Tipperary.

Le Scogliere di Moher (Aillte an Mhothair, che significa "scogliere della rovina", in gaelico irlandese e, spesso non tradotto, Cliffs of Moher in inglese) sono impressionanti e suggestive scogliere a picco sul mare situate vicino al villaggio di Doolin sulla costa occidentale del Clare, contea della Repubblica d'Irlanda. Meta turistica celebre in tutto il mondo, è uno dei luoghi più visitati dell'isola d'Irlanda. Il punto più alto delle scogliere, che sono lunghe circa otto chilometri, raggiunge i 214 metri d'altezza sull'Oceano Atlantico, mentre la propaggine più meridionale, Hag's Head ("Capo Hag") scende a 120 metri.
