"Lower Falls" Yellowstone NP Wyoming *
Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone from the Lower Falls

  • Way back in 1870, a member of the Washburn party, Mr. N.P. Langford described the Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone in this way: “A grander scene than the lower cataract of the Yellowstone was never witnessed by mortal eyes.”

At 308 feet, the Lower Falls is the tallest waterfall in the park. In terms of height alone, it’s more than twice the size of Niagara Falls. The amount of water flowing over the falls varies greatly depending on the season. At peak runoff times in the spring, 63,500 gal/sec flow over the falls, whereas at lower runoff times in the fall, the flow diminishes to 5,000 gal/sec.

  • The Upper Falls of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is significantly smaller than its lower counterpart, but it is just as breathtaking. Standing on the platform at the brink of the Upper Falls, this 109-foot cascade of surging water looks every bit as powerful as it is.

Mammoth Hot Springs
Mammoth Hot Springs

Here, another album begins. This album is from my travel to Western National parks of USA. It's was on November, 2016. This trip was made with a Spanish travel agency (www.banoa.com).
We began in Montana with Yellowstone National Park and we visited 17 national parks, crossed 7 states and drove more than 7500 km until to arrive at San Francisco. It was a great experience and a fabulous trip.

Mammoth Hot Springs is a large complex of hot springs on a hill of travertine in Yellowstone National Park adjacent to Fort Yellowstone and the Mammoth Hot Springs Historic District. Although these springs lie outside the caldera boundary, their energy has been attributed to the same magmatic system that fuels other Yellowstone geothermal areas.
