These purple algae deserved a macro but I did not have my 105mm and the view was nice. I was able to bring them out with my polarizing filter but I would have preferred the reflection on the second part of the pond above. Happy New Year's Eve to everyone and thank you for your comments or favorites which are always appreciated.

Perhaps the best known coastal view of Bretagne (Brittany); the Pink Granite Coast with Phare Men Ruz. It was also my #1 wish when I visited the area. This section of coast with its pink/orange rocks and boulders, glows beautifully in the sunset golden hour. This was taken at high tide with the waves crashing in quite dramatically. I doubted whether to post the long exposure or the short exposure. Both look good. For comparison I will post these versions on my Instagram account @aisfoto23.

Bretagne 2013
It's always hard to photograph a famous location of which there are already thousands of photos to be found online.
First of all it's hard to arrive at such a location without too many compositions already in one's head. If you repeatedly see photos of such a location on the various platforms online, those compositions just get embedded into the subconscious mind.
And then there is the part where you want to take a photo that can hold it's own or even stand out, which is much harder when there are already thousands of photos to compete with.
Well, Ploumanach Lighthouse is such a place and when I headed out to photograph it after a grey day I didn't expect too much.
But conditions changed quite fast that evening and I'm glad I spent the afternoon to do some scouting already, so I knew where I wanted to take a photo. The tides where just right and I think I came away with a decent enough photo to show it here.
