Rome, Italy
aka Assumption Cathedral or Cathedral of the Assumption
"The Cathedral of the Dormition (Russian: Успенский Собор, or Uspensky sobor), also known as the Assumption Cathedral or Cathedral of the Assumption is a Russian Orthodox church dedicated to the Dormition of the Theotokos. It is located on the north side of Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin in Russia, where a narrow alley separates the north from the Patriarch's Palace with the Twelve Apostles Church. Southwest is Ivan the Great Bell Tower. Separately in the southwest, also separated by a narrow passage from the church, is the Palace of Facets. The Cathedral is regarded as the mother church of Muscovite Russia. In its present form it was constructed between 1475–79 at the behest of the Moscow Grand Duke Ivan III by the Italian architect Aristotele Fioravanti. From 1547 to 1896 it is where the Coronation of the Russian monarch was held. In addition, it is the burial place for most of the Moscow Metropolitans and Patriarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church." Another version of this inspiring place in Manhattan, where I tried to find all kinds of different angles. In this shot I wanted to show the feeling you get, when you look straight up these incredibly high buildings into the sky and nevertheless lose the structure of the clouds. They would normaly be blown out completely. You can compensate that with multiple exposures and blending them with louminosity layers.

Plaza Mayor, Madrid
Hősök tere, the beautiful and impressive square in Budapest conmemmorating the Seven Chieftains of the Magyars and other important national leaders, as well as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. This is seen on a winter evening.
Heroes' Square is one of the major squares in Budapest, noted for its iconic statue complex featuring the seven chieftains of the Magyars and other important Hungarian national leaders, as well as the Memorial Stone of Heroes, often erroneously referred as the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. At the front of the monument is a large stone cenotaph surrounded by an ornamental iron chain. The cenotaph is dedicated "To the memory of the heroes who gave their lives for the freedom of our people and our national independence." Directly behind the cenotaph is a column topped by a statue of the archangel Gabriel. At the base of the column is a group of seven mounted figures representing the Magyar chieftains who led the Hungarian people into the Carpathian basin. In the front is Árpád, considered the founder of the Hungarian nation. Behind him are the chieftains Előd, Ond, Kond, Tas, Huba, and Töhötöm. Little survives in the historical record about these individuals and both their costumes and their horses are considered to be more fanciful than historically accurate. The back of the monument consists of two matched colonnades, each with seven statues representing great figures of Hungarian history. The sculptures were made by sculptor Zala György from Lendava. I have an earlier version of this spot here, in evening darkness. This time I wanted to go for the morning blue hour, but in the early morning there are very few lights on. So I will have to go back for a third attempt at some point and get the evening blue hour.
I am posting from my iPad as I am still traveling in Scandinavia and won't be home for a while yet.
