Calm evening with incoming tide at Kape Kiwanda. The tide was just starting to come back which let me take a photo of this nice crack with some water flowing through.
In the back you can already see that dredded coastal fog which ruing many photo opportunities during my trip. The next morning I got up 4am just to find this scene completely shrouded in fog. At least I got this one at sunset :-)
cheers

A charming place on the Oregon Coast. A small, nestled little town with a unique beach. These petrified, mostly buried tree stumps scatter the beach.

The weather was not promising when we left Portland, but after a 2 hours drive we did not regret it. Great sky and high tide with huge waves. Needless to say that my feet got totally soaked, but it was really worth it.

A break in the storm front, a little before sunset, yielded these interesting colors in the sky. An hour later it was pouring, again.
Cape Kiwanda is part of the Three Capes Scenic Route (along with Cape Meares and Cape Lookout). Kiwanda is the smallest of the three, but it is one of the best places to experience spectacular wave action. Pacific City is the home of the Pacific Dory Fleet. South of Cape Kiwanda is the dory boat launching area. North of Cape Kiwanda to Tierra Del Mar is a stretch of beach popular with picnickers. Kiwanda provides great hang gliding and kite flying opportunities.
A monochrome shot? From me? Wild. Spent a few days shooting around Oregon. This is Cape Kiwanda on a very bright, hazy afternoon. Look closely and...
