Trujillo es una ciudad y municipio español de la provincia de Cáceres, en la comunidad autónoma de Extremadura. La ciudad de Trujillo ha recibido los nombres de Turaca/Turacia, Turgalium, Torgiela, Troxiello, Trugillo y Trujillo a lo largo de la Historia. Turaca o Turacia era el nombre prerromano de la ciudad. Posteriormente, en la época romana se llamó con la voz latina Turgalium. En la evolución de Turgalium al actual topónimo de Trujillo debió haber una influencia árabe o mozárabe, pues de lo contrario la evolución natural de la palabra hubiera dado lugar a "Trugajo" o "Trugallo" en lugar de Trujillo. La estatua que se ve en el centro de la imagen se erige en memoria del conquistador Francisco Pizarro, natural de esta villa.
