Scopello
Tonnara di Scopello
by Walter Maurer

This unique small beach with its bizarre rocks rising out of the cristal clear waters, is one of the most popular sights in the whole area of Castellammare. The former flourishing tuna fishery has recently been restored and now offers delightful holiday flats for rent and bathing pleasure for a small entrance fee. Sadly it is completely crowded and the destination of hundreds of excursion boats daily. A scene from the film "Ocean's 12" from Steven Soderbergh, with Brad Pitt and Catherine Zeta-Jones, was filmed here in 2004.

Cefalù
the rock
by Walter Maurer

We were already set up for this panorama on the beautiful village of Cefalu, as a thunderstorm chased us away from the pier. But then after a short heavy rain and a few minutes before the actual sunset, the sun broke through again and lit the houses of the village with this breathtaking golden light. Evening at the cliffs of Bonifacio
Bonifacio
by Walter Maurer

I came to this awesome spot at the cliffs twice that week, with high hopes to get a dramatic sunset. Sadly there were hardly any colors in the sky that evening and the cliffs were drowned in complete shadow. The soft orange tone from this shot soon faded into complete grey and the sun vanished long before actual sunset. In spite ......a fantastic place for a sundowner.
