Deventer I Netherlands
The city of Kampen lies on the banks of the IJssel river in the north-east of the Netherlands. It has about 50 000 inhabitants. This photo was taken, looking south towards the city, and the characteristic bridge which connects the city to the railway station. The photo is a stitch of 3 images.

My home town of Deventer, with the Lebuinus Church and the Wilhelmina Bridge over the river IJssel. Mid March the water level of the river was much higher than usual, making it seem like such a huge water plain. Photographed at blue hour, or should I say orange/pink hour.

Taken a few weeks back during our one week of winter and snow. The bridge crosses the IJssel river.
The bridge in my hometown from a different angle. The Wilhelmina Bridge crooses the IJssel River towards a beautiful sunset. I hope we can all cross a bridge from 2021 to a beautiful and colourful 2022. May the New Year bring happiness, health, and colour to all of you.
A picturesque corner of one of the most tourist liked streets in my hometown. The Walstraat (Wall Street) is famous for the annual Dickens festivity in December In summer visitors enjoy the flowers and the unique shops in this old part of the city. A panorama of 2 horizontal photos.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a hopeful, happy and healthy 2021. The slightly lopsided "Waag" in Deventer is an early 16th Century weighing house and it is the oldest one in the Netherlands. The heyday for the building was the period when the city was member of the Hanseatic League and a lot of trade was done here of goods that were shipped in and out via the IJssel River. A blue hour of the capital of our province, Overijssel in the eastern Netherlands. Prominent is the church tower called the 'peperbus' or the pepper shaker.

Blokzijl is a small picturesque town with a large harbour. In former days, before the closing of the Zuiderzee and the creation of the polders, it was a major trading port, especially for peat. Today it is almost landlocked, but a waterway still connects to the IJsselmeer for pleasure boats. It is a major tourist destination in that area.
