Last night I was a storm chaser in Dubai, manage to get a premium spot, covered balcony, no need to worry about the equipment. Unfortunately, lightning never reached ground level, but only stayed in high altitude. Nevertheless, it created very nice dramatic skies.

My dear friends, I wish you all the best for 2015! I must say that I have not been very active on flickr this past year, but I will take the opportunity of this post to tell you the highlights of 2014 for me. It's been a great year for my photography. I got my first solo exhibition in Dubai, which got a lot of local media coverage including interview on a popular radio station. I was also featured on the flickr blog which has made the total views on my photostream jump from 10 Millions to over 40 Millions as of today. I was published in several photography magazines (Practical Photography, Digital Photo, Photography Monthly). I did many Digital Blending workshops in the Middle East & SE Asia. And my biggest achievement was the publication of my first book, available now in all the Dubai bookstores, and also available online: www.askexplorer.com/shop/daniel-cheong
I would like to thank you all for your constant encouragement and support, without you all of this would not have been possible!
First sunlight on the top of Burj Khalifa (where the rising sun is already visible from this height of 828 meters). On ground level you have to wait a little more :)

Epic fog this morning in Dubai. I shot all the stages of light, from the morning blue hour to the full daylight, so please expect many more Dubai fog shots :)

Epic fog in Dubai this morning. And I was lucky to be in this unplanned location, just because I was invited for dinner in a residence on the top floor (77th floor).

That day the morning fog went so high that the only buildings left above it were Burj Khalifa, and the 79th floor of the building from which I was shooting.

Long exposure using the Lucroit Filer holder for my Nikkor 14-24mm, and a ND400 HiTech filter. Surely gives a very smooth texture to the fog.
