This region is known for its stunning landscapes, including the Atacama Desert, the Andes Mountains, and the Pacific Ocean. It is also home to several unique and picturesque photography locations, such as the Lauca National Park, the Chungará Lake, and the Azapa Valley. Freezing Volcano
Parinacota from Lago Chungara
by Jiri Hajek

Taken shortly after sunrise along the shores of Lago Chungara.

I was hoping for a colorful sunrise, but it was blocked by some clouds in the East. I like the result anyway, it's just different than expected. ;-)

Burning Parinacota

One of the lucky moments here. First you travel to a very remote location in unforgiving elevation (almost 5000 meters) to get an otherworldly sight of snow covered volcanoes towering above beautiful landscape. All this complemented by thousands years old Yareta plants. And then also weather cooperates and nature gives you a colorful sunset. A moment hard to forget!

I like the dusk atmosphere of this photo. Taken quite a long time after sunset, a long exposure was needed (4 minutes), but it resulted in nice smooth colors of both the Yareta plants and volcanoes.

Red Giants

Two volcanoes at Bolivia-Chile borders got red by the setting Sun. Quite a view together with the wonderful landscape of Lauca National Park!

Thanks to all Phoide contributors to Arica and Parinacota Region!
Most notably Jiri Hajek.
