Taken from near Oxford Station in Manchester, on a very clear night. I used a tripod.....

Mayfield, Manchesters' long forgotten station - for as long as I can remember I have wanted to have a look in here, I got the opportunity out of the blue today, finally. It's amazing something of this size and grandeur has been left abandoned for so long, a fire has taken a lot of the old roof away, but a lot of features still remain in situ, a rather eerie feel to the place too, in a huge City, right next to Piccadilly, a seriously busy transport hub, yet here is deserted, overgrown, forgotten... I had no tripod today (lucky I had the camera), and shooting under here was difficult because of the contrasting light, and total lack of light in places, a rare summer sunny day helped in places, yet also hindered in others, all in all it was a quick visit and I'm very happy with what I came away with given the conditions, lack of support, and timescale.

In trying to find some lesser known photography spots, I happened upon this footbridge over the Manchester Ship Canal in the Manchester Docklands, by the media city.

This photo is a panorama of five vertical images stitched together in Photoshop CC and it was taken last night at the end of a six-hour twilight...

I've been meaning to come here for ages, tonight with being at work late and great weather proved the ideal time for a quick visit and a few shots bang in the middle of the blue hour, I had to rush a little as I was parked in a car park that was due to shut, and with no ticket I was chancing it a bit, but still I managed a few shots, this being the first. As it happens I still got locked in the car park... and had to get some security guy to let me out.... Worth it? - I think so with this one.

Salford Quays

The Lowry is a theatre and gallery complex at Salford Quays, Salford, Greater Manchester, England. It is named after the early 20th-century painter L. S. Lowry, known for his paintings of industrial scenes in North West England

Quick stop off on the way to catch the train to London for Andy's little gathering, thankfully no tripods were insulted in the making of this image.

A pre dawn visit to Media City, Salford, perfect calm conditions, and zero degrees temperature made for some great still water ideal for reflecting the neon lights into, not ideal for keeping a warm set of hands! this bridge is a previously shot location at sunset in totally different colours, managed to not get locked in a car park this time too.

A moody overview looking at all the platforms out toward the main railway just South of Manchester Piccadilly. Also a great excuse to get a Joy Division song title into the picture name..
