Lómagnúpur mountain is a 688 metres high mountain located between the Kirkjubæjarklaustur village and Skaftafell area. The environment around the mountain is spectacular, shaped from volcanic eruptions, glaciers and lakes. In 1789 there was a earthquake in the area and a big landslide fell down from the south part of the mountain, marks from that can be seen from the main road.

Along the Ring road, you will encounter miles of mossy lava fields. This one was shot just outside the village of Vik.

I think Iceland has more waterfalls than any other country on a per acreage basis. A lot of them are behind farmhouses. This was shot from the Ring Road in Southern Iceland.

Fjaðrárgljúfur is a 2 km (1.24 mi) long canyon in the South-East Region of Iceland. The canyon is about 100 meters deep and through it runs a small freshwater stream.
It’s known to be one of the most picturesque places in Iceland. It’s quickly become one of the most sought-after locations, especially after appearing Justin Bieber’s video “I’ll Show You.”
Fjaðrárgljúfur is believed to have formed at the end of the last ice age, or about 9 thousand years ago. When the glacier retreated, a lagoon formed in the valley behind the canyon.

Views from Sveinstindur are out of this World. I'm so glad I made it here, quite a bit into Icelandic Highlands.
Getting there: After driving F208 and then F235 roads, it's just about negotiating the last ~400 vertical meters from parking to the Sveinstindur summit, which will take you close to an hour. Or, closer to 30 minutes in case you don't get up early enough, which was just my case. ;-)

Lómagnúpur are 688 m high palisades that tower south of Björn, west of Núpsvötn on Skeiðarársandur. West of Lómagnúpur is the farm Núpsstaður. The spectacular surroundings of Núpsstaður and Lómagnúpur are well known. The area reaches from the ocean and black sands and all the way to Vatnajökull. Volcanic eruptions, glaciers and lakes have shaped the environment there, in addition to shaping diverse formations.
