Charlotte's tower bridge
La City Hall è la sede della Greater London Authority che include il municipio di Londra e la London Assembly. Si trova a Southwark, sulla sponda sud del Tamigi vicino a Tower Bridge in questa occasione abbellita dalla diretta composizione e da un piccolo satellite terreno su nel cielo.

City Hall is the headquarters of the Greater London Authority (GLA), which comprises the Mayor of London and the London Assembly. It is located in Southwark, on the south bank of the River Thames near Tower Bridge. You can not miss this London cliché photo. Everyone knows it and saw a hundred fantastic photos, but when you're there and wait for the biplane buses to come along it is not as easy as it seems.
A fantastic place for shooting modern architecture in London is the square in front of City Hall. During day its hard to find clear compositions due to the crowds of tourists, at night it's better. Too bad (for me), there was a stage for a theater festival built up right in the center of the square. Tried to get de best out of it.

Tower Bridge at night is quite a sight, all lit up. Unfortunately I had to get back home, so this view at dusk was as late as I could go.

Looking for some interesting angles on Tower Bridge I found this! The "Girl with a Dolphin" statue by David Wynne sited next to Tower Bridge on the north bank of the Thames.

This was a rather impromptu shot, originally intended to photograph sunrise at the Millennium bridge to avoid the crowd. Unfortunately, half of the bridge was under renovation and there was an unsightly fence running the whole length of the bridge. The clouds were starting to catch some beautiful light and I do not have a composition to work with. Slightly annoyed, I decided to savage the situation by rushing down to London bridge to photograph the Tower bridge in the beautiful morning light.
After a good twenty minutes of brisk walking, I was still too late to capture the beautiful predawn light as the sun had just risen above the horizon. Fortunately, there was sufficient atmosphere and buildings to filter the harsh sunlight, creating a soft back-light for the tower bridge and HMS Belfast. I managed to capture the whole scene in one exposure, making editing relatively straightforward. I was glad I managed to adapt to the situation quickly and come away an image I was happy with. It made getting out of bed at 5 am worthwhile!

It's the first time I've been back to this part of London for quite a few years, so It was good to have a spare hour doing a bit of sightseeing. I've always loved Tower Bridge because it is such a quirky, but great piece of engineering.
