This was taken after a very peaceful and memorable afternoon we spend at Bonsai Rock. As I was planning my trip to Lake Tahoe, I did a bit of reading and a lot of the photographers advices on spending time at the Bonsai Rock location and I decided to take their advice into consideration. When I looked up the location on google maps, it looked innocent enough and pretty close to the road. But when we reached the location we realized that even though the rock is pretty close to the road there is almost a sheer drop of about a 60-70 ft from the road to the lake shore. Add to the fact that the shoulder is made up of crumbling sand and rocks with no marked trails.
I was more worried about getting back from the shore to the rock in the dark so we decided to maybe avoid this location for this trip and comeback here maybe another time when we are better prepared. But at the hotel I stayed up late and researched the interwebs to figure out a better path to the shore and I finally found one and the next day we made it there around 5pm and spend some wonderful time enjoying this secluded location all to ourselves.

The first day sunset from our trip to Lake Tahoe, this shot was taken on the Nevada side near the sand harbor beach. This one was quite difficult to make as the light was changing quite fast and I was using three filters in front of my lens including a polarizing filter, an nd grad and the lee big stopper. Since I was using the big stopper creating a panorama the traditional way by looking through the view finder was not an option. So I had to focus and meter manually, meter and remember to close the viewfinder. Usually when I had to check so many things my ADHD kicks in and I forget or eff up something.
So when I got hope and finally edited the images I was so happy this one came out good. Thanks for visiting enjoy!!

I posted an image from our trip to Lake Tahoe. We have only been to Lake Tahoe once, and the main reason for that is the distance from Los Angeles, it’s not too far but far enough to make it a multi-day road trip. So, a more extended trip is needed, and being a tourist hot spot and deep in the Sierras make it a tough destination. Another factor was that when we made our first trip, we were lucky to have the whole lake to ourselves with increasingly dramatic skies almost every day.
The first spot we wanted to check out was the Sand Harbor beach, which is usually a trendy spot. There was winter storm warning as we drove up to Lake Tahoe and the whole beach was deserted. As we parked the car at the lot, the wind was howling, and the sky was cloudy. It was well before sunset, so we decided to wait. Slowly the wind started to clear the dark clouds, and we could see the bright horizon. As I was taking the shot, the winds began to calm down, and the sun started to warm up the beach. We had a beautiful spring evening as the sunset was approaching. I used my Lee Big Stopper for this image and adding a ten stop ND filter gave me soft ethereal water as opposed to a choppy lake. I always love the contrast of the smooth water and the sharpness of the rock formations.

This shot is of the first sunset we saw at Lake Tahoe. It was a pretty cloudy day until sunset and suddenly it cleared with some great cloud formations with neat pink hues on the clouds. I am not sure where this location is but I am pretty sure its next to a boat ramp. I picked this location due to blossoming flowers which looked much prettier in person.
Thanks for looking, have a nice day..

This is a shot of the beautiful bonsai rock location in Lake Tahoe. This was one of the hardest locations to reach but was well worth it as we were the only people at the location and I could take my pictures without anyone disturbing me and we got to watch a beautiful sunset. So all in all we had a productive day.
Thanks for visiting and have a nice day..

Today's post is one f those images that slipped through from our last trip to Lake Tahoe. I made this one at the Bonsai rock location just as the sky cleared for a brief moment when the lake reflected back the blue skies with a crystal clear reflection.

This was another panorama shot I took while we were at Sand Harbor state park which is on the Nevada side of Lake Tahoe. I didn’t make many plans about what to shoot during this trip so we were very relaxed and spend the whole afternoon relaxing at the beach and I only went crazy when the sunset actually happened.
This particular one was taken after the sun went down, Lake Tahoe due to its alpine location surrounded by mountains enjoys pretty long twilight and is a lot more forgiving to the photographer in composing and getting the shot right. My wife pointed out this location to me cementing her place as my honorary location manager. I like how the lake acts as a giant mirror and changed color from dark grey to amazing greens and blues once the sky cleared up during sunset.

Sand Harbor beach during blue hour. Took this shot just after sunset. I still can’t believe how we got the beach all to ourselves without anyone walking through the frames. We made the trip to Lake Tahoe on an unusually warm weekend in spring. I am glad we were there enjoying this beautiful location before the crowds hit. This particular shot was taken using a polarizing filter and LEE Big stopper.

This one is a panorama shot from Sand Harbor beach, combined image of about 5 shots. This one was quite hard to compose due to the sun still being present to the right of the frame. But the water looked so beautiful and calm that I didn’t mind the slightly blown sky.
Thanks for visiting and have a nice day..

Another shot I took from the bonsai rock location. This one is a panorama shot stitched together from about 6 shots at 35mm focal length. I took this shot after the sun has gone down behind the mountains. The water was a little choppy and there was only little light. But I like the way it turned out.
Thanks for visiting have a nice day..

Hi all hope you all had a great Easter. It’s been hectic for the past couple of weeks for me and I was going through a lot of stuff at work and did some wedding shoots for the first time and I have been a bit overwhelmed by the workload that I neglected flickr a bit. So last weekend my lovely wife and I packed our bags and headed up the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Lake Tahoe and spend an awesome weekend there exploring and photographing the beautiful lake and the mountains surrounding it.
This shot was taken during the second day when the strong winds were clearing the clouds just as the sun was setting. This was taken at the Sand Harbor beach which is a pretty popular destination, so I was surprised to see it completely deserted during sunset. Anyways I really had a blast running around and trying various compositions. This particular one is a 4 shot Panorama with a Lee Big Stopper and Lee 0.6 ND grad and a Singh-Ray warming Polarizer.
Hope everyone likes it. Will post more pics as I process them, thanks for looking have a great Monday.
