This one is a panorama shot from Sand Harbor beach, combined image of about 5 shots. This one was quite hard to compose due to the sun still being present to the right of the frame. But the water looked so beautiful and calm that I didn’t mind the slightly blown sky.
Thanks for visiting and have a nice day..

Hi all hope you all had a great Easter. It’s been hectic for the past couple of weeks for me and I was going through a lot of stuff at work and did some wedding shoots for the first time and I have been a bit overwhelmed by the workload that I neglected flickr a bit. So last weekend my lovely wife and I packed our bags and headed up the Sierra Nevada Mountains to Lake Tahoe and spend an awesome weekend there exploring and photographing the beautiful lake and the mountains surrounding it.
This shot was taken during the second day when the strong winds were clearing the clouds just as the sun was setting. This was taken at the Sand Harbor beach which is a pretty popular destination, so I was surprised to see it completely deserted during sunset. Anyways I really had a blast running around and trying various compositions. This particular one is a 4 shot Panorama with a Lee Big Stopper and Lee 0.6 ND grad and a Singh-Ray warming Polarizer.
Hope everyone likes it. Will post more pics as I process them, thanks for looking have a great Monday.
The skies cleared before I could get to Sand Harbor State Park on the east side of Lake Tahoe. So I waited until after sunset for the sky to soften...

Sand Harbor beach during blue hour. Took this shot just after sunset. I still can’t believe how we got the beach all to ourselves without anyone walking through the frames. We made the trip to Lake Tahoe on an unusually warm weekend in spring. I am glad we were there enjoying this beautiful location before the crowds hit. This particular shot was taken using a polarizing filter and LEE Big stopper.
Thanks for visiting have a great Monday..

I posted an image from our trip to Lake Tahoe. We have only been to Lake Tahoe once, and the main reason for that is the distance from Los Angeles, it’s not too far but far enough to make it a multi-day road trip. So, a more extended trip is needed, and being a tourist hot spot and deep in the Sierras make it a tough destination. Another factor was that when we made our first trip, we were lucky to have the whole lake to ourselves with increasingly dramatic skies almost every day.
The first spot we wanted to check out was the Sand Harbor beach, which is usually a trendy spot. There was winter storm warning as we drove up to Lake Tahoe and the whole beach was deserted. As we parked the car at the lot, the wind was howling, and the sky was cloudy. It was well before sunset, so we decided to wait. Slowly the wind started to clear the dark clouds, and we could see the bright horizon. As I was taking the shot, the winds began to calm down, and the sun started to warm up the beach. We had a beautiful spring evening as the sunset was approaching. I used my Lee Big Stopper for this image and adding a ten stop ND filter gave me soft ethereal water as opposed to a choppy lake. I always love the contrast of the smooth water and the sharpness of the rock formations.
